Transfer news from England and beyond throughout the day

Robin van Persie scored 10 goals for Manchester United last year
Robin van Persie scored 10 goals for Manchester United last year

Robin van Persie appears to be heading for the Old Trafford exit with Fenerbahce confirming they have opened talks with Manchester United over the striker.

The 31-year-old scored 30 goals for United as they won the league in 2012-13 following his £24million move from Arsenal.

His impact since then, however, has been muted due to a series of niggling injuries, and he was limited to 10 goals in 29 appearances under compatriot Louis van Gaal last season.

On Thursday, Fenerbahce announced via Twitter: "Fenerbahce has begun to transfer talks with Robin Van Persie and his club Manchester United."

Fenerbahce signed Van Persie's former United team-mate Nani on Monday for a reported £4.25million.
If Van Persie is sold, United would have only Wayne Rooney, James Wilson and the injured Javier Hernandez - out with a broken collarbone - in their squad as recognised strikers following the exit of on-loan Falcao at the end of the season.

Meanwhile, Torino coach Giampiero Ventura has given his blessing to Matteo Darmian to join Manchester United.

Darmian has been linked to United this summer and Sky Italia say an agreement has now been reached between the two clubs for the Italian defender to move to Old Trafford.

Torino are said to have accepted an initial fee of €18million with a further €2million in variables.

When asked about Darmian's reported move to the Premier League, Ventura told Sky Italia: "We have worked together for some time.

"Because of his desire, humility and will to achieve things, it's right to grant him the opportunity to realise a dream to play in the Champions League in a team that will fight to win it.

"The transfer of an important player like him can open the door for us to build a stronger side."

Darmian will reportedly sign a four-year deal with United worth £2million per season and will undergo a medical on Friday.

Norwich's attempts to sign Robbie Brady in a cut-price deal have been labelled "embarrassing" by Hull manager Steve Bruce.

Sevilla have completed the signing of Stoke midfielder Steven Nzonzi in a £7million deal.
The 26-year-old has signed a four-year deal with the Spanish side, who have inserted a £21.5m buy-out clause in his contract, after undergoing a medical on Thursday morning.

"Sevilla FC and Stoke City have reached an agreement for the transfer of midfielder Steven Nzonzi, who arrived in Seville on Wednesday night," said a statement on sevillafc.net.

"The player has signed for four seasons and will have a buyout clause of 30 million euros."

In a short statement Stoke added: "Stoke City can confirm that Steven Nzonzi has left the Britannia Stadium to join Spanish side Sevilla in a £7million deal.

"The club would like to place on record it's thanks to Steven and offer him our best wishes for the future."

Mark Bunn questions a referee's decision

Aston Villa have signed goalkeeper Mark Bunn on a two-year deal, the Barclays Premier League club have announced.

The 30-year-old moves to the West Midlands after his contract at Norwich had expired and with veteran Villa goalkeeper Shay Given understood to be on the brink of joining Premier League rivals Stoke.

"I'm delighted to find myself working with Tony Parks again as he was the goalkeeping coach at Norwich City so he knows me really well," Bunn told the official Villa website.

"Aston Villa is a huge football club and this was too good an opportunity to miss out on.

"I'm looking forward to getting to know my new team-mates over in Portugal at our pre-season training camp and I can't wait to get started."

Bunn started his professional career at Northampton before moving on to Blackburn and also enjoying loan spells at Leicester and Sheffield United.

He joined Norwich in 2012 and went on to make 31 appearances for the Canaries.

Liverpool forward Raheem Sterling has missed training for a second successive day.

Swansea have confirmed the move of young winger Kenji Gorre to Dutch side ADO Den Haag on a one-year loan deal.

Gorre, 20, signed a new three-year contract at the Liberty Stadium on Monday after making his senior debut at Crystal Palace on the final day of last season, but will now return to his native Netherlands to gain further first-team experience at the Eredivisie club.

Nadir Ciftci

Celtic have confirmed the signing of Dundee United striker Nadir Ciftci.

The Scottish champions announced the former Turkish youth international had signed a four-year contract.

Celtic had a third bid for the 23-year-old accepted earlier this week and he will now be free to play in their Champions League opener against Stjarnan next Wednesday.
