Republic of Ireland defender Paul McShane is set to leave Hull after seven years with the club.

McShane, who joined the club from Sunderland in 2008, is out of contract and the Tigers have confirmed it will not be renewed following their relegation from the Premier League.

Liam Rosenior, Yannick Sagbo, Maynor Figueroa, Steve Harper and Joe Dudgeon are all also departing, but Alex Bruce and Stephen Quinn have been offered new deals.

Wicklow man McShane made 136 appearances for Hull and scored five goals – the most important being the one which effectively sealed promotion back to the Premier League against Cardiff in 2013.

Manager Steve Bruce told the club’s official website: “Regrettably, following relegation, we have made the decision to release the majority of those players whose contracts have expired.

“We would like to place on record our thanks for the service they have given to the club, particularly our two longest-serving players Liam Rosenior and Paul McShane. Both players have been outstanding for us and they leave with our very best wishes for their futures.”
