Ex-Ireland international Tommy Dunne passes away

Former Ireland international and St Patrick’s Athletic captain Tommy Dunne has passed away aged 82. 

Dunne was capped three times and played in Ireland’s 3-0 win over world champions West Germany in 1956.

One of the best defenders of his era, he captained the Saints to FAI Cup final wins in 1959 and 1961.

Dunne won a league title with Dundalk and also had spells with Shamrock Rovers and Sligo Rovers.
