Portugal claimed their third successive win in Euro 2016 qualifying Group I by edging out Serbia 2-1 at Estadio da Luz in Lisbon.

Veteran defender Ricardo Carvalho headed the hosts into an early lead although Nemanja Matic's outstanding overhead volley levelled matters just after the hour mark.

But the score would not remain level for long as Fabio Coentrao finished from close range following a quick break by the Portuguese, who claimed a 2-1 victory to go top of the pool by two points ahead of Denmark and Albania.

Mergim Mavraj and Shkelzen Gashi scored in the final 13 minutes as Albania claimed a 2-1 win over 10-man Armenia, who went ahead through Yura Movsisyan but had Hovhannes Hambardzumyan sent off to turn the clash in their opponents' favour.

A single goal from Claudiu Keseru was enough for Romania to see off the Faroe Islands and remain top of Group F, one point ahead of Northern Ireland.

The Al-Gharafa forward struck in the 20th minute and though there were other opportunities for the home team, an improved Faroes defence restricted them to a 1-0 scoreline.

Hungary and Greece played a 0-0 draw which does neither side many favours in Group F.
