Stuart McCall has signed a short-term contract to take over as Rangers manager.
The former Ibrox midfielder will lead the club until the end of the season after the new board acted to rejuvenate the club's promotion hopes.
Rangers confirmed McCall had signed his deal just ahead of the former Motherwell boss meeting the media.
McCall's appointment was revealed shortly after the club announced the departure of caretaker boss Kenny McDowall.
In a statement on their official website, the club said: "Rangers can today confirm that Stuart McCall has been appointed as manager of the club on a short-term contract until the end of the season.
"As part of the move, Kenny Black will become his assistant manager after working with McCall at Motherwell from 2011.
"McCall met the players at Murray Park this afternoon and took his first training session in preparation for Saturday's game against Livingston at Ibrox."
