West Ham forward Enner Valenica has suffered a deep laceration of the big toe following an incident at his home where he stood on a piece of teacup.

Valencia’s wound required emergency hospital treatment to stitch the wound and stop the bleeding; the surgery of which was overseen by West Ham medical staff.

Manager Sam Allardyce revealed Valencia could miss the weekend’s Barclays Premier League clash with Arsenal as a result.

"Enner has had an accident at home and has cut his big toe quite severely on a broken cup," said Allardyce. "It has been stitched.

"We're not exactly certain but we think it will be too soon for him be considered for the game at Arsenal on Saturday.

"It was a freak accident at a time when we could have done without it due to our lack of available strikers."

The Ecuador striker has made 30 appearances since joining the Hammers from Mexican side Pachuca in summer 2014, scoring five goals.
