Aiden McGeady (Everton), John O’Shea (Sunderland) and Jon Walters (Stoke) have been nominated for the Senior International Player of the Year prize at the 25th ‘Three’ FAI International Football Awards, which take place tonight at RTÉ.
Robbie Brady (Hull), Jeff Hendrick and Cyrus Christie (both Derby) have been chosen as candidates for the Young International Player of the Year.
Three goals have been nominated for the Three International Goal of the Year.
The nominees are: McGeady's second goal in the dramatic UEFA Euro 2016 qualifying round game against Georgia on 7 September 7, O’Shea’s crucial last-minute equaliser against Germany in Gelsenkirchen, and Anthony Pilkington’s calm clipped finish against USA in November.
St Pat's striker Christy Fagan, along with Cork City midfielder Colin Healy, and former Dundalk striker Pat Hoban have all been nominated for the SSE Airtricity League Player of the Year Award.
The nominations, which were chosen by a panel from the Soccer Writers' Association of Ireland, are divided into 20 categories.
Among the other awards being presented at the special ceremony, a former Republic of Ireland great will be inducted into the FAI's Hall of Fame, and there will also be a Special Merit Award, and an International Personality of the Year Award.
