Republic of Ireland international striker Jon Walters has warned his opponents that anyone who spits at him will be "eating their supper through a straw."
Spitting has hit the headlines in recent days as the FA confirmed they are investigation footage where Manchester United's Jonny Evans and Newcastle United's Papiss Cisse appeared to spit at each other.
Walters admits that players will often attempt to rile each other during a game to gain a competitive or mental edge but insisted that spitting is a step too far.
"As a player you take anything off the ball; sly punches, pinches and kicks that are meant to wind you up,” the Stoke striker told Talksport.
"Little things like that go on in any match.
"But spitting is pretty low. If it happened to me and someone spat at my face or towards me then I think he’d be eating his supper through a straw that night.
"I wouldn't be very happy, I wouldn't be happy at all. It’s the lowest of the low."
