Irish teenager Dylan Connolly could be set to make his Ipswich Town debut after being named in their squad to play Fulham in the Championship on Saturday.

The 18-year-old's move to Mick McCarthy's side from Shelbourne was confirmed last week and he has since featured for their Under-21 against Millwall.

He has made an immediate impression at Portman Road and could feature for the promotion-chasing senior side this weekend.

“The first-team has got to be the aim and that’s what I’m working towards,” Connolly, who signed an 18-month contract, told itfc.co.uk

“I have come here and I know I have got to perform well in the Under-21 games but I’ll just keep my head down, work hard and try and be around the first-team.

“I’ve been here a while now and I’ve settled in really well. Everybody is friendly and there are a few Irish lads here, which always helps.

“I’m loving it here already and training day in, day out has been great. I’m ready to work my hardest now and hopefully have a successful time at Ipswich Town.”

The 19-year-old scored 12 goals in 27 games for Shels in the SSE Airtricity First Division last season after graduating from their Under-19 side.
