Dundalk’s top scorer Patrick Hoban is to join English club Oxford United in January, it has been announced.
The 23-year-old striker bagged 20 goals for the Lilywhites en route to this year’s SSE Airtricity Premier Division title triumph.
The Galway man will join the League Two outfit, who are managed by former West Bromwich Albion boss Michael Appleton, when the European transfer window opens on 1 January, 2015.
“I have been aware of Oxford’s interest for a while,” Hoban said. “They did their homework and came and watched me a few times and I hear plenty of good things about the club, Michael Appleton and the plans they have for the future.
“I am delighted to sign and now I will just work as hard as I can over the next few weeks, look to settle in and get to know the lads and I will be raring to go when I am able to play in January.”
Hoban joined Dundalk in December 2012 from Mervue United, who he had rejoined in 2010 following a one year spell at Bristol City.
