SSE Airtricity Premier Division runners up Cork City have signed former Sligo Rovers winger Kieran Djilali for the 2015 season.

The Londoner, who began his career at Crystal Palace, spent the latter part of the 2014 campaign with Limerick, prior to which he had a successful spell with the Bit’O Red, winning an FAI Cup and Setanta Sports Cup while at the Showgrounds.

“I’m delighted to join the club,” said the 23-year-old. “The manager told me that he really wanted me, and it was good to feel wanted.

"That was a big factor in me signing, plus the crowds the club gets and the chance of playing in Europe next year.

“Ross Gaynor is here as well and we are good friends from our time at Sligo, so it was a pretty easy choice to sign.”

City boss John Caulfield said he believed Djilali is an exciting addition to the squad and that the wide man will prove a big hit with the City faithful: “I think Kieran is the signing for next season that will really excite the supporters.

"I think everyone can remember when Sligo came down to us in April and Kieran was absolutely electric on the wing. He’s a flair player and his potential is enormous.”
