Bristol Academy 2-1 Raheny United

Women’s National League champions Raheny United displayed all their battling qualities in losing narrowly to Bristol Academy in the second leg of their UEFA Women’s Champions League Round of 32 at Ashton Gate.

Second-half goals from Spanish international Natalia Pablos and Angharad James put Bristol 2-0 up but Raheny pulled a goal back after 74 minutes when defender Pearl Slattery headed home Rebecca Creagh’s free-kick.

However, Bristol held on to win 2-1 on the night and 6-1 on aggregate, and now meet Barcelona in the Round of 16.
