Republic of Ireland Under-21 star Jack Grealish has signed a new four-year deal with Aston Villa.

Grealish has represented Ireland from U-15 through to the current Under-21 side, although the skilful midfielder pulled out of a recent squad due to contract negotiations at the English Premier League club.

But now those issues appear to have been sorted as the 19-year-old has committed his immediate future to the Villa Park side.

Speaking to the Aston Villa official Twitter account, Grealish said: “I'm delighted and it's a dream come true to commit my future to my boyhood club.

"I've had a season ticket at Villa since I was four years old and came to every game, so this is a big thing for me and my family."

Grealish has been linked with many big English clubs, including Chelsea and Manchester City.

Grealish has yet to commit his international future to Ireland and England Under-21 boss Gareth Southgate has been inquiring about the midfielder switching allegiances.

Villa manager Paul Lambert said: "There's always an excitement around a young player who comes through the academy.

"But the thing is the potential we have signed in Jack Grealish is great for everyone connected with Villa.

"He has a long way to go in the game but the potential that's in him, we believe, means we could have a really good player in the years to come."
