Everton defender Seamus Coleman and Aston Villa goalkeeper Shay Given are set to miss Ireland's Euro 2016 qualifier against Gibraltar through injury.
Ireland take on UEFA's newest member state in Aviva Stadium on Saturday but Everton manager Roberto Martinez confirmed that Coleman, who missed his side's defeat to Manchester United on Sunday, would not play, and that he is also a doubt for the Group D match against world champions Germany on Tuesday-week.
The Donegal man, who has been suffering from a soft-tissue injury and recently recovered from a concussion, had been named in Martin O'Neill's 27-man squad on Friday, with team-mate James McCarthy omitted due to a quad strain.
Meanwhile, 38-year-old Given. who recently returned to the national side after two years of international retirement, has been ruled out with a hip problem.
O'Neill is unlikely to call up another goalkeeper as a replacement as he already has David Forde, Keiren Westwood and Rob Elliot on board.
