Shamrock Rovers will aim to boost their hopes of European qualification through the SSE Airtricity Premier Division when they meet arch-rivals Bohemians at Dalymount Park tonight.

The match was postponed in August after damage to an area of the penalty box meant the pitch was unplayable.

The Hoops trail St Patrick’s Athletic by eight points but this is one of two games in hand on the Saints.

Bohs could be set to give some fringe players the opportunity to impress because of a host of absentees.

Manager Owen Heary has to cope with a longer injury and suspension list than at any other time in the season.

Eoin Wearen, Craig Walsh and Jake Hyland are suspended. Kevin Devaney (toe) joins Anto Murphy (ankle) and Dan Byrne (cruciate) among the injured.

Steven Beattie and Roberto Lopes have had flu and may miss the game.

Heary said: “It will be a chance for other players to come in and play for their positions. Hopefully, they’ll take that opportunity.”

Heary said his side were unfortunate not to get three points from Friday’s game in Athlone Town.

“But our attitude was right going into the game and we took the game to them.  We need to have the same attitude on Tuesday.”

Rovers are also looking to bounce back from Saturday's EA Sports Cup final defeat to Dundalk.

Kick-off is 7:45pm in Dalymount Park.
