Mark Noble is hoping to make a decision on his international future in the next couple of weeks.
The West Ham United midfielder has been linked with declaring for the Republic of Ireland after being snubbed by England in their latest squad selection.
Noble told Sky’s Goals on Sunday that he has not had direct contact with manager Martin O'Neill but confirmed his agent has held talks with the Ireland boss.
Noble said today: "There's been so much speculation over the last week. Obviously I was a little bit disappointed not to be involved in the England squad, but that's only natural.
"If you're an English player and you've got a chance, it's the pinnacle of every English boy's career to play for England."
He admitted it would be strange lining out for Ireland but refused to rule out a call-up.
He stated: "A little bit, only because I've captained the (England) Under-21s in a European Championships and lost in a final to an amazing Germany team that have just gone on to win the World Cup.
"But you never know. Football is a strange game and I'll just keep enjoying West Ham and playing the way I am. Hopefully I'll make a decision in the next couple of weeks."
