Carlos Tevez’s father has been released less than 12 hours after he was kidnapped in the city of Moron in Argentina.

Juan Alberto Cabral, who married Tevez's mother after the player’s biological father died when he was a child, was abducted on Tuesday morning while driving in the Greater Buenos Aires metropolitan area. His abandoned car was found several hours later.

Local media reported that the Juventus and Argentina forward was flying home from Italy in response to the situation, but those plans have been shelved following Cabral’s release after a ransom was paid.

"He is just fine,"  Gustavo Galasso, the family’s  lawyer, told reporters.
