St Patrick’s Athletic boss Liam Buckley admitted his side were lucky to beat UCD last weekend.

The league champions fought back from a 2-1 deficit against the Students at Richmond Park to win 3-2, with Christy Fagan scoring the winner in injury time.

“It was a hard-fought win. UCD played particularly well. They held on to the ball well, they’ve passed it. We were fortunate enough to get a win out of it,” Buckley told RTÉ's Soccer Republic.

The Saints face Limerick in Inchicore in Saturday’s televised game (3.15 live on RTÉ Two).

The Munster side have just one point from two games so far, having drawn with Bray before last weekend’s 2-1 loss to Dundalk.

Manager Stuart Taylor did, however, take some positives from the loss in Oriel Park.

He said: “I don’t think that Dundalk really caused us any major problems. I think we went 1-0 up, quite rightly so, I felt as if we deserved [it]. I thought the young players gave a fantastic account of themselves.”

Live television coverage of St Patrick’s Athletic v Limerick from 15:00 on Saturday 22 March on RTÉ Two and RTÉ.ie (Ireland only).
