Tommy Dunne has been appointed as manager of Galway Football Club as it enters the Airtricity League next season.

Dunne spent the last three years as manager of Cork City, and led the Leesiders to promotion from the First Division two years ago.

A club statement read: "Tommy’s managerial success with Cork from start-up and working with a tight budget coupled with his ambition, energy and enthusiasm matched our vision for the club and without doubt makes him the right person to bring Galway Football Club forward."

As a player, Dunne had spells with Home Farm, Dundalk, Shelbourne, Derry City and Shamrock Rovers.

Elsewhere, Finn Harps have confirmed that Ollie Horgan is their new manager after getting the unanimous backing of the club's board of directors.
