The FAI Cup semi-final draw has thrown up two mouth-watering ties including a clash of Sligo Rovers and Shamrock Rovers.

The Bit o' Red host the Hoops in The Showgrounds while there will be a Louth derby between Drogheda United and Dundalk in Hunky Dorys Park.

United saw off Finn Harps in a replay tonight.

The semi-finals will be played on Sunday, October 6, and the order of the games will be announced in due course.

The first match will kick-off at 1.45pm followed by the second at 3.55pm.

Both games will be shown live on RTE Two.

Sligo Rovers manager Ian Baraclough is excited by the pairing with the Tallaght side: "It is a mouth-watering tie. We knew before the draw that there was no easy game and no matter which team we faced, it would be a difficult prospect.

"But a home draw is something we wanted and it’s a game to really look forward to.

"It is also a tie that both sets of fans will be excited about. There will be huge interest and the incentive is there for everybody to see. It is a chance to reach a cup final at the Aviva Stadium and we will be doing all we can to get there.

"The games between the sides have been very close this season. It will be tight and it may take a moment of brilliant to divide the teams."
