Goalkeeper Ingrid Hjelmseth was the heroine for Norway as they booked their place in the final of the UEFA Women's Championship with a penalty shoot-out victory over Scandinavian rivals Denmark.

In a dramatic contest in Norrkoping, Norway were ahead after just three minutes when defender Marit Christensen bundled the ball over the line, and that looked to be enough to take them through until the Danes levelled through Mariann Knudsen's header three minutes from time.

A period of extra-time failed to add to the 1-1 scoreline, with penalties needed to settle the outcome.

And Hjelmseth was in scintillating form, saving Denmark's opening two efforts from Line Roddik and Theresa Nielsen as the Norwegians won 4-2 to set up a showdown with defending champions Germany on Sunday.
