The Bus Éireann Women’s National League have announced their nominees for Player and Young Player of the Season, while the Team of the Season has also been selected.

The Women’s National League Committee selected the Team of the Season, while every player in the league had a vote in the Player and Young Player categories.

The six nominees for Player of the Season are; Sara Lawlor (Peamount United), Sylvia Gee (DLR Waves), Rianna Jarrett (Wexford Youths Women), Julie-Ann Russell (Peamount United), Caroline Thorpe (Raheny United) and Mary Waldron (Raheny United).

Jarrett has also been nominated for the Young Player of the Season along with Katie McCabe (Raheny United) and Ciara O’Connell (Cork Women’s FC).

The Team of the Season includes three players from Raheny, Peamount and Wexford and one from DLR Waves and Castlebar Celtic.

Mary Rose Kelly (Wexford Youths Women), Seana Cooke (Raheny United), Megan Campbell (Raheny United), Lauren Dwyer (Wexford Youths Women), Karen Duggan (Peamount United), Sylvia Gee (DLR Waves), Sarah Rowe (Castlebar Celtic), Caroline Thorpe (Raheny United), Rianna Jarrett (Wexford Youths Women), Sara Lawlor (Peamount United), Julie-Ann Russell (Peamount United).

The Director of the league, Fran Gavin, said: “This has been another excellent season culminating in an exciting title race which will go down to the last games this Sunday.

“The standard and quality of player in the league improved and the awards are an opportunity for us to pay tribute to those players who have excelled during the course of the season.

“We have also introduced a Merit Award this year to honour those who have made a valuable contribution to the development of women’s football in Ireland.”
