Tonight’s Nationwide programme is a profile of the late Sligo-born, Sean Fallon, an iconic Glasgow Celtic figure who until his sudden death last month, was the oldest surviving Republic of Ireland international.

The documentary includes an interview with Sir Alex Ferguson, the Manchester United manager, who delivered the eulogy at Sean’s funeral in Glasgow.

It also includes what was Sean’s final interview, given to RTE’s Tommie Gorman, in Glasgow, three days before he passed away. Known during his playing days as ‘The Iron Man’,

Sean was assistant manager to Jock Stein when Celtic became the first British club to win the European Cup in 1967.

He was renowned as a talent spotter and signed several generations of family Celtic players including Danny Mc Grain, Kenny Daglish, Paul Mc Stay and Packie Bonnar.

Nationwide will be screened at 7pm.
