Shamrock Rovers have signed defender Derek Foran as Trevor Croly continues his rebuild of the Hoops squad.

Foran joins Rovers having spent the 2012 season in Oriel Park with Dundalk

The 23–year-old has also had spells with Sligo Rovers, St Patrick’s Athletic and Bray Wanderers.

Foran said: "I’m delighted to have joined Shamrock Rovers. When you get a call asking you to join the biggest club in the country, there is nothing to think about.

"As soon as Trevor rang me I knew this is where I wanted to be.

"Trevor is putting together a great squad; I met them yesterday and the professionalism amongst the players is great. I’m really looking forward to the new season now."

Earlier this week, the Hoops also secured the signature of 21-year-old full-back Danny Ledwith.

Ledwith has said the quality of squad in Tallaght will improve his own game: "I had interest from a few clubs but I’m very happy with signing for Rovers. As a young lad it’s a dream to play for the biggest club in Ireland and that’s where I am now.

"There are really good players here for next season and as a young player, I think it will be great for me to be part of that."
