Cork City moved above Bray Wanderers in the Airtricity League Premier Division table after a 3-0 victory.

Two first-half goals by Tadhg Purcell and Shane Duggan saw the Leesiders secure all three points on their first visit to the Carlisle Grounds in nearly three years.

Vinny Sullivan grabbed a third in the 64th minute. But they finished with ten men as sub Stephen Kenny was sent off in the 86th minute.

Wanderers offered very little as they suffered a third straight defeat in eight days since the mid-season break.

It what was rumoured to be his last game for City, Purcell gave the visitors a fifth-minute lead at the Carlisle Grounds when heading in Daryl Horgan’s right cross.

Duggan made 2-0 in the 34th minute when sliding in to convert Colin Healy’s centre.

Cork grabbed a third in the 64th minute when Duggan’s measured pass set Sullivan clear to round Darren Quigley and slot into an empty net.

The away side finished with ten men after substitute Stephen Kenny was sent off in the 86th minute for a second yellow card.

Having been booked for apparent dissent five minutes earlier, the forward was dismissed for going in late on Quigley.

Wanderers offered very little as they suffered a third straight defeat in eight days since the mid-season break.

All they mustered was an early chance that saw Cork 'keeper Mark McNulty easily deal with Sean Houston’s shot.

They nearly pulled one back in the 78th minute when Adam Hanlon’s free saw McNulty rebound back towards the line only for the covering Healy to hack clear.

Gearóid Morrissey almost grabbed a late fourth for Cork but was denied by Quigley who made a fine save with his legs.
