Pat's and Bohs face Icelandic sides, while leaders Sligo Rovers face Slovakian opposition

St Patrick's Athletic and Bohemians have drawn Icelandic opposition in the first round of the Europa League.

Bohs will meet Thor Akureyri, while Pat's have a repeat of last year's meeting with IBV.

The Saints progressed to 2-1 on aggregate last year. Both Irish sides will be at home in the first leg.

Sligo Rovers will face FC Spartak Trnava on Slovakia, with the Bit o' Red away from home in the first leg.

Sligo manager Ian Baraclough said: “They are really going to test us. They look a very good side. Obviously I’m going to try to do as much research as possible in the build-up to the game.

"They’ve had plenty of experience in Europe and a lot more success than us but sometimes that isn’t always a deciding factor.

“It is something we will relish and another challenge for the club that we’re all looking forward to. We will be the underdog, but it is a chance to try to create a small bit of history and improve our record in European competitions.”

There are 1,200 tickets already sold for the home leg in Sligo.

Should Bohs win, their second qualifying round opponents would be FK Mladá Boleslav of the Czech Republic, while St Pat's would progress to meet Bosnian outfit NK Široki Brijeg.
