Eamon ‘Chick’ Deacy passes away

Former Republic of Ireland and Aston Villa player Eamon ‘Chick’ Deacy has passed away.

The 53-year-old Galway man Deacy won an English First Division medal with Villa, with whom he played from 1979-1982, while he also represented Galway United and the Republic Of Ireland in the 1980s, winning four caps.

Deacy also played for Derby County and won an FAI Cup medal with Galway in 1991.

Deacy is survived by his wife Mary O'Connor, his son Jake and daughter Dawn.
