2340 The transfer window, which so often in the past has shut with a bang, closed in pretty uneventful circumstances tonight.
Many of the signings brokered before the deadline involved players at opposite ends of the age spectrum with much to prove. Young pro’s bidding to burn bright in the football firmament, and veterans whose stars are very much on the wain, dominated many of the permanent and loan deals.
Updates on other late, late transfers will be available on RTÉ.ie from 7am.
2330 Carlos Tevez’s future, for the next four months at least, is in Manchester. Or maybe on a beach back home in Argentina - if he can afford the sanctions that City will undoubtedly impose for such dereliction of duty. Whether he will be reintegrated into the first-team squad or forced to languish in the reserves remains unknown. Disappointed City boss Roberto Mancini appeared unwilling, or at least unable, to shed any light on the matter after the defeat at Everton.
2320 Defender Sebastien Bassong has finally secured that loan deal from Spurs to Wolves. He moves from one of the most parsimonious defences in the league to one of the most porous.
2310 Chile international David Pizarro is moving to Manchester City in a loan deal until the end of the season.
The 32-year-old Roma midfielder has fallen out of favour at the Stadio Olimpico, but Roberto Mancini mnaged to get a good tune out of the diminutive playmaker during his time in charge of Inter Milan.
Republic of Ireland international Paul McShane is extending his loan at Crystal Palace, while Norwich striker Chris Martin has also agreed a loan deal to move the Londoners.
2300 The English transfer window closes.
2255 Blackburn defender Ryan Nelsen looks poised to join Louis Saha in north London .
Nelsen would replace fellow centre-back Sebastien Bassong, who has long stated his desire to leave Spurs and was left out of the club's win over Wigan.
The capture of Nelsen would allow the transfer market maestro Harry Redknapp to offload Bassong to Wolves.
2250 In a predictable late flurry of transfer activity, Fulham have landed Russian striker Pavel Pogrebnyak from Stuttgart on a six-month contract.
Striker Louis Saha has left Everton to join Tottenham.
Saha has scored just twice in 20 appearances for the Toffeemen this season.
Republic of Ireland international Keith Andrews has agreed a deal which will see him leave Blackburn for West Brom as he endeavours to bolster his chances on securing a seat on the plane to Euro 2012.
QPR have announced the signing of Bobby Zamora from Fulham on a two-and-a-half-year contract, with the fee undisclosed.
2140 It seems business is business, as Manchester United and Manchester City put their intense rivalry aside for the transfer of Swiss starlet Frederic Veseli.
The bad blood pumped around the city - and Salford - following the transfer of Carlos Tevez hasn’t prevented the 19-year-old making the move between the top two in the Premier League, although the former Lausanne Sport player is making the move in the opposite direction, from City to United.
2130 Darron Gibson’s move to Everton could be regarded as an instant success by virtue of what may a hugely important goal for his new club - and his old one - at Goodison. Fergie could be forwarding a crate of Cristal champagne to the Republic of Ireland international come ten o’clock.
2125 Spurs forward Roman Pavlyuchenko could be heading back to Moscow after failing to ever really establish himself in north London.
The former Spartak star has been linked with a big-money move to Lokomotiv.
The 30-year-old Russia international, who has apparently been on the radar of QPR, Sunderland and Anzhi Makhachkala, was omitted from the Spurs squad for the visit of Wigan.
2120 Chelsea striker Milan Lalkovic is off to the Netherlands in search of first-team action. The 20-year-old has joined Eredivisie outfit ADO Den Haag in a loan deal until the end of the season.
2100 Nikica Jelavic has finalised a four-and-a-half-year deal with Everton. The 26-year-old was presented to the Goodison Park faithful at half-time of the club’s Premier League encounter with Manchester City.
Jelavic was prolific in his time at Rangers, scoring 36 goals in just 55 game with the Glasgow side. That goals-to-game ratio seems certain to plummet with his move south to a far more competitive league.
Meanwhile, a disgruntled Toffees supporter emerged from the crowd with a pair of handcuffs and held up the game by five minutes after harnessing himself to a post. Police freed the miscreant, before presumably handcuffing him again moment later.
2050 Liverpool reserve goalkeeper Martin Hansen is leaving Merseyside to return home to Denmark. The 21-year-old, who joined the Reds from Brondby in 2006, has signed for Viborg FF.

1940 Click here for live scoring from the five Premier League games on tonight
1937 Sunderland boss Martin O'Neill tonight completed his second deadline-day swoop when he signed defender Sotirios Kyrgiakos on loan for the remainder of the season.
1917 Louis Saha is not on Everton's teamsheet for tonight's clash against Manchester City.
1916 Arsenal have confirmed the signing of attacking midfielder Thomas Eisfeld from Borussia Dortmund on a long-term contract.
1910 Jelavic should be presented to Everton fans before tonight's game with Man City
1908 And now we hear that Keith Andrews is on his way to WBA to meet with the suits. He handed Blackburn a transfer request yesterday.
1906 Everton have agreed a fee with Rangers for striker Nikica Jelavic
1904 There's a whisper about Seamus Coleman on the move, according to Paul Staunton; we'll keep you informed

1845 Word on the street - or at least in the Press Association car park - is that Fulham striker Bobby Zamora is undergoing a medical at Loftus Road.
Personal terms have yet to be agreed between the two parties.
1840 Moneybags PSG have swooped for Inter Milan midfielder Thiago Motta. The 29-year-old is believed to have cost the Parisians (or, more accurately, the Qataris) a fee in the region of €10million. More on that tomorrow.
1830 Looks like Carlos Tevez won’t be living la dolce vita in Milan this spring. That particular saga came to a rather unspectacular close at 6pm when the transfer window closed in Italy.
1815 Following the capture of Marcus Olsson, QPR defender Bradley Orr has become Blackburn’s latest signing.
1805 Newcastle full-back James Tavernier has completed a loan deal with MK Dons for the remainder of the season. Suppose we all have to earn a crust.
Tavernier may be able to get a bum a lift down the A1 (and the M1) with team-mate Alan Smith. The Magpies veteran finalised a similar loan move to the much-maligned new town on Monday.

1742 Around £40m spent so far; Watford's Adrian Mariappa is said to be more keen on a move to Newcastle than Wigan.
1724 Reports claim Zamora to QPR is a done deal, they have already signed Cisse from Lazio.
1717 Kieran in Limerick: "Andrew Johnson Fulham is the latest rumour, he's meant to be going to Everton on loan, and really think the January transfer window should be abolished imo."
Don't let Sky Sports hear you say that!
1712 Paul McClearn with breaking news from the midlands: Rangers have turned their attention to the burly figure of Jonathon "Scorch" Sweeney having been rebuffed by Norwich.
"The fee of a twelve pack of Wagon Wheels and a share bag of Rancheros has been snapped up by Athlone Town. Scorch is reportedy delighted to be joining the club he supported as a boy and only demanding his share of the fee as a signing on bonus is delaying the deal."
Well done, Scorch, hope it works out for you!
1707 Anthony Delaney: "Rumour is Harry Redknapp meant to go for Zaha at Crystal Palace but spelt it wrong and is stuck with Saha now......."
1702 We've had an email containing news about Gary Doherty, so it's getting posted: "Defoe to Liverpool, Saha to Spurs didint see these coming is there any truth on on Gary Doherty heading to man city with Mario Balotelli to Charlton. Doherty is seen as a striker and a centre back in one," says James Ward.
1700 David Egan with more breaking rumour from Dublin city centre: Just seen Darius Vassell walking out of Burger King on Grafton street beside Stephen Kenny! - Surely he's not going to Shamrock Rovers?
1657 Some dodgy Harry R comments coming in that I will not post ‘cos I don’t need no ‘assle’ from the lawyers. Let’s just say one suggested he was going to sign Andy Carroll, now that would be criminal!
1650 Richard M: "Saha to Spurs", surely that will mean they will have to re-hire the physio they let go after Darren Andertons retirement!!!!!!
Well said.
1641 Rangers have confirmed they have had a bid for Norwich striker Grant Holt turned down by the Barclays Premier League club.
1636 “Just seen up at Dalymount park that Bohs are making a 6 figure sum bid for Leapordstown Uniteds Supremo Winger Darren Plant. Twinkletoes as he is know around the local area is turning down attention from boyhood heroes Chelsea to sign for the Gypsies to help them out this year. What a lad. No lies!!”
Stephen Harris sounds like he's taking the mickey out of a mate, and why not? Is Plant a Rovers fan?
1633 Here we go - news from Dublin city centre. Eoin Leonard says: Was just out on Capel Street and could have sworn I saw Roddy Collins & Carlos Tevez coming out of Louis Copelands.... Tevez to Gortakeegan??
1623 West Brom have confirmed the signing of Birmingham defender Liam Ridgewell for an undisclosed fee.
1617 Great news - Harry Redknapp has left court and is on his way to White Hart Lane, something will surely happen now.
1613 Eoin Prendiville: "Heard a rumour that the January Transfer Window has been offered out to the highest bidder.
"Despite going for record fees only a year ago, it's been decided to get rid of the Window due to a very poor performance this time around."
Yes.
1605 Disappointing lack of (insert expensive player here) to (insert unlikely LOI club here) rumours today, surely somebody has one…
1550 Fulham midfielder Pajtim Kasami has ended transfer speculation by pledging to stay with the west Londoners.
1545 Seamus Scanlon: “Liverpool make a last-minute shock bid to sign Manchester United's Howard Webb!”
A low blow – remember he did Man City a favour by not spotting stamps and elbows against Tottenham. A true Man U ref would have been flashing red all over the place.
1541 Cisse to QPR is a done deal
1540 From Jarlath O'Grady: "Robbie Keane to sign for Accrington Stanley. 'It's a dream come true' he's told the press 'to sign for the team I followed as a boy.'"
Think I will impose a limit on Robbie Keane rumours, let’s say two per hour.
1535 Amidst all the transfer talk it would be easy to forget that there are actually a few games tonight as well.
Click here for all the latest team news.
1530 Sky Sports now say that the Saha to Spurs deal would be a permanent move and not a loan. Personally, I think they should go for Demba Ba (15 goals this season), now back after a short spell at the Africa Cup of Nations.
Apparently, Ba has a £7m buy-out clause #valueformoney
1524 Colm Humphries tells me that "Wesley Sneijeder has been spotted outside Old Trafford today."
"That's the fourth consecutive transfer window that he has now signed for Manchester United, Congratulations to Wesley."
Hmmm, we'll take that news with a pinch of salt for the moment...
1517 Arsenal's Japanese midfielder Ryo Miyaichi has joined Bolton on loan until the end of the season.
Under Premier League rules, Miyaichi will not be eligible to play for Bolton against Arsenal in tomorrow night's game at the Reebok Stadium.
1513 Re. our post at 14.12: “Any chance you could get Derrick MacHale to get his brother in law to pull Defoe over and keep him there for the next 8 hours.”
Thanks,
Andy C
Andy C – if that is your real name – RTÉ cannot influence foreign police forces, sorry about that.
1510 From John Reddington via email:
"Huge rumours doing the rounds on the Aston Villa fans forums today that Aston Villa are very close to making Robbie Keane's deal permanent. Both parties are keane (pardon the pun) and the Galaxy are looking at Emile Heskey as a makeweight, not that they are short up front but they just need a new head of security at the Home Depot stadium.
"Robert will view this permanent move back to the prem as ideal preparation on a tilt at the Golden Boot this summer in Poland."
1505 Tottenham defender Vedran Corluka has joined Bayer Leverkusen on loan until the end of the season, the Barclays Premier League club have confirmed. Wow, and we actually speculated on that earlier...
The Manchester clubs can breath a bit easier now...
1502 I would just like to say that Rob has been a great servant of this tracker over the last six hours, and will be missed.
1457 West Brom head coach Roy Hodgson is insisting that striker Peter Odemwingie is not for sale amid speculation linking him with a move to Fulham.
By Rob Wright
1454 Right folks that's my lot. I'll leave you in the capable hands of Micil Glennon to take you through to the 11pm close and the bizarre sideshow that is Jim White's Sky Sports News presentation.
1448 Cavan are refusing to sanction Seanie Johnston's proposed switch to Kildare. The Cavan board are concerned that Johnston is not in permanent residence in Kildare.
What? It's still transfer news.
1442 Former Liverpool defender/battering ram Sotirios Kyrgiakos may well be on his way back to the Premier League with Martin O'Neill's Sunderland his destination.
1430 It just doesn't feel like transfer deadline day without Harry Redknapp leaning out the window of a car while talking to Sky reporters. Maybe they could get him a seat next to a window at Southwark Crown Court?
1423 Djibril Cisse's move to QPR looks to be on the verge of completion after the 30-year-old confirmed on twitter that he is leaving Lazio.
"I want to thank all the Lazio fans and everyone I've met in these months for their affection and support," he wrote.
"I'm sorry if I've been a disappointment for some people but I want to say that I've always given 100 percent."
1412 And is if by magic, Derrick MacHale emails us with more on this Defoe to Liverpool carry on.
"My brother in law is a traffic cop in Warrington and he says Jermaine Defoe just turned off the M56 and took the Liverpool exit! He is following him now, will update you when I get more news."
Why do I suddenly have the Bad Cops theme-tune from the Simpsons playing in my head?
1403 It has been pointed out to me that "Defoe to Liverpool" is trending on twitter. Fair enough, but so is #CurlsGettingGirlsSince1994.
Both leave me confused and a bit worried.
1354 With reports that Louis Saha is on his way to Tottenham, Wigan might have a reprieve, however their chairman Dave Whelan is still ready for a bid from the London club for striker Hugo Rodallega.
Whelan said: "I have seen Spurs linked with Rodallega for some time, but we have not received a bid, not even an inquiry as far as I know.
"That doesn't mean they won't make a bid, but if they do they always leave it late, very late. It might make sense to cash in now."
1348 Manchester City's Wayne Bridge, who seems to have spent half his career out on loan, is again out on loan. The former England international has joined Martin O'Neill's Sunderland until the end of the season.
1335 It's not exactly on the same scale as nicking Carlos Tevez from under their rival's noses, but Manchester United are said to be on the brink of snagging former Switzerland Under-17 skipper Frederic Veseli from Manchester City.
Nothing official yet, but reports claim the 19-year-old defender has undergone a medical with United.
Wonder is this will mean a massive "Welcome to Manchester Fred" sign going up in the city centre? Given how that last one turned out, maybe not.
1331 The Guardian's Andy Hunter is claiming that Louis Saha to Tottenham is a done deal. Spurs always seem to pull a sneaky one out of the bag on deadline day but with all of their current striking options, do the Londoners need another frontman?
1321 Opps. Looks like I've upset one Colin Urquhart with my 11.41 update.
"So how much you know about football with your London cab story, Brentford are 8th in league one," says Colin.
I can exclusively confirm that Brentford is a real place, on a map and everything! Also that Wayne Scales is indeed their star striker.
He takes a lot of weight on his shoulders does Wayne. He's used to dealing with plenty of pressure (mostly downwards) and is currently weighing up a move to Fulham.
1318 Alan Pardew has claimed that Newcastle have made a final bid for Watford defender Adrian Mariappa.
Can't fault Pardew as a negotiator - this time last year he somehow convinced Liverpool to hand over £35million for Andy Carroll.
1311 This is marginally interesting. Fulham are understood to be making enquiries for the services of West Brom striker Peter Odemwingie.
Could be that Bobby Zamora's move to QPR won't be allowed to proceed without Martin Jol having a ready-made replacement lined up.
1303 Damien Cooke has us all misty-eyed and nostalgic for last year's glorious Ronaldinho to Blackburn nonsense.
"A friend of a friend who knows the bloke who runs the butchers where the Blackburn physio gets his meat told me that Blackburn are interested in signing Ronaldinho's accent and transferring it onto David Dunn," he says.
That's all well and good Damien but how would it affect Dunn's legendary chicken eating skills?
1252 Bolton Wanderers, who have been quiet so far this month, have had a £6million bid for Middlesbrough defender Rhys Williams rejected.
1249 So with their top striker Nikica Jelavic on the way to Everton, Rangers are on the search for a replacement and reports claim that Norwich's Grant Holt fits the bill.
However given the Scottish club's precarious financial situation, it's hard to see them spending any significant money.
1226 Roma general director Franco Baldini has confirmed that his club are in talks with Chelsea over a potential loan move for midfielder David Pizarro.
"We are only negotiating with Manchester City for Pizarro," Baldini said. "We will try to complete the deal before tonight."
1213 Looks like Ravel Morrison will be on the move, amid reports that his people are in talks with West Ham after a fee was agreed with Manchester United.
Sam Alardyce will have his work cut out keeping Morrison's focus on the field, but if he can do it, the signing could turn out to be a major coup.
1210 Paul Clohessy cuts Andrei Arshavin deep with his rapier like wit. He does have a point though.
"I heard a from a well-placed source in North London this morning that Andrei Arshavin was spotted standing inside the gates of the Emirates looking disheveled and twiddling his thumbs.
"However, a source inside the club later revealed that he has being doing exactly this for the last six months."
1206 Everton have confirmed they have agreed a fee with Rangers for striker Nikica Jelavic. The Rangers striker is currently undergoing a medical while his agent talks money to David Moyes and the Everton suits.
1200 Tevez Tedium Time! Sky Sports News are reporting that AC Milan are back in the hunt for the stroppy striker.
The Italian club are, according to reports, back in contact with Tevez's representatives, however they'll have to be quick about it as the Italian transfer window shuts close at 6pm.
1156 Arsenal misfit midfielder Andrei Arshavin could be on the move. There are strong rumours linking him with a move to Anzhi Makhachkala or "that rich Russian team."
Arsenal would have the luxury of taking their time over any offer for the winger as the Russian transfer window stays open until the end of February.
1151 So this Zamora move then. It's understood that QPR have made an offer of £5million but that Fulham are holding out for £8million. Not bad money for a 31-year-old out of favour with his manager.
1141 Now this is the kind of unsubstantiated transfer gubbins we all know and love.
Bryan Coughlan writes: "My uncle works as a cab driver in London and he says hes after dropping Brentford's striker Wayne Scales off at the Cottage. Interesting, especially seen as Bobby Zamora is being linked with QPR."
Only one problem, you got greedy Bryan. The London cabby angle is a classic and and hooking it onto an already established story - the Zamora move - gives it an air of credibility, but the made up name just gives it away.
Everyone knows there's no such team as Brentford. I doubt that's even a real place. You're good Bryan, but not good enough.
1136 What is it with Tottenham and surprise deadline day moves for frontmen? The latest rumour mill rumblings claim that the London club are interested in signing Everton striker Louis Saha.
1124 Blackburn Rovers have completed the signing of Marcus Olsson, the twin brother of centre-back Martin, who has been at Ewood Park since 2006.
1113 Nottingham Forest manager Steve Cotterill claims that Chelsea have made a £1.5million bid for striker Patrick Bamford.
This time last year the Blues were sealing a £50million bid for Fernando Torres, but considering just how that turned out, you can't really blame them for lowering their sights a tad.
1108 Mark Hughes is doing his very best to ensure that this transfer deadline day is worth paying attention to. Not only is the QPR manager hoping to tie up a deal for Djibril Cissé, but there's now news coming through that he has made an offer with Fulham for the services of England striker Bobby Zamora.
1104 Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini claimed earlier in the week that his side would see no new additions before the end of the transfer window. Well if you see Mr Mancini out and about, feel free to point and call him a fibber because it looks like he's in talks about a deal for Roma's David Pizarro.
1058 It's Tevez Tedium Time! Yep, everyone's favourite wandering Argentinian is taking a case to the Premier League because he reckons that Manchester City have no right to with-hold his £250,000 a week wages for minor incidents like refusing to return to the club from Argentina.
1039 Andy Keogh finally brings his time at Wolves to a close after joining Millwall for an undisclosed fee.
Keogh initially shone at Wolves, helping them to promotion but he has since found it difficult to command a regular first team spot and has had loan spells at Cardiff, Bristol City and Leeds.
Probably too late for him to force his way into Trap's summer plans mind you.
1020 Birmingham defender Liam Ridgewell looks set the get the move he has been angling for, after the Blues agreed a transfer fee with West Brom.
Ridgewell is currently having talks over personal terms at the Baggies training ground with a view to completing the move before tonight's transfer deadline.
1012 It's not just Gary Orr being linked to Blackburn now, defender Martin Olsson looks set to be joined at Ewood Park by his brother Marcus.
"My brother got the shock of his life when he heard," Marcus told Swedish newspaper Sportbladet.
1001 In demand Rangers striker Nikica Jelavic has arrived at Everton for his medical and to haggle over wages and whatnot.
0958 Poor old Anthony Killeen is, much like a grizzled old Blues singer, a man who knows pain.
"Oh how it hurst to be a Blackburn fan, just over a year ago, we were mid table and all the talk was of Ronaldinho, Beckham, Luis Fabiano and now it's all about Bradley Orr and er......well nobody else."
Yep, and it could get even bleaker if Steve Keen is unable to hang on to Christopher Samba.
0933 Belgian champions Genk have confirmed that midfielder Kevin De Bruyne has completed his transferto Chelsea, signing a contract until 2017
The London club will loan De Bruyne back to Genk for the rest of the season before he moves to Stamford Bridge in the summer, which is nice of them.
0928 Tottenham's want-away defender Vedran Corluka may be about to get the move he wants as Bayer Leverkusen have made an approach to take the 25-year-old Croatian on loan until the end of the season.
0923 More from QPR as Sky Sports News are reporting that defender Bradley Orr (who has earned me a grand total of eight Fantasy Football points) has arrived at Blackburn for a medical ahead of a proposed switch.
Hope he's cheaper than his £3.8million Fantasy Football price.
0921 Former Liverpool and Sunderland (and the former Lord of the Manor of Frodsham) Djibril Cissé is believed to be in London ahead of a potential move to QPR.
Cissé is understood to be available for £4 million after struggling to make an impression with Serie A club Lazio, who he joined in the summer.
0910 Bit a suprise here as reports are emerging that Manchester United's Ravel Morrison could be on his way to West Ham United.
Morrison is rated as one of the most naturally talented young players in England but has had a chequered past and Alex Ferguson appears to be ready to let him go.
0906 Those Tottenham fans worried that Harry Redknapp's current legal wranglings may prevent his trademarked 'wheeler-dealing' need not fret.
Spurs first team coach Joe Jordan is more than ready to step in and complete any potential deals in place. "There are people within the club that know what the thoughts of the manager are and they get on and do it," he said.
"Nothing is imminent as far as I am aware, but in the past Tottenham have come in with a late purchase and there's always a possibility in football."
0900 Sunderland's Martin O'Neill, always a man with an eye for a bargain, looks set to seal a move for Manchester City full-back Wayne Bridge. The 31-year-old former England international is believed to be undergoing a medical with Sunderland.
0853 Right so, Everton are believed to have had a bid for Rangers striker Nikica Jelavic accepted. Jelavic has been linked to several clubs during the transfer window with West Ham having an offer rejected but David Moyes appears to have made an offer that the cash-strapped Glasgow club couldn't turn down.
0845 Here we go again, a transfer window in which very little of note shuffles to a close. It difficult to see anything of the magnitude of last year's Fernando Torres and Andy Carroll transfers but hope springs eternal.
One thing that is certain is that Sky Sports News and going to have a massive problem filling up their coverage with Harry Redknapp currently indisposed. It's just not going to be the same without him hanging out the side of a car talking to anyone who'll listen at the Tottenham training ground.
