Former Derry City defender Daniel Lafferty has joined Burnley on a two-and-a-half-year deal, the English Championship club have announced.

The 22-year-old joins the Clarets following a successful trial spell at Turf Moor.

The left-back scored seven goals in 34 appearances for Derry City in the 2011 Airtricity Premier League.

Lafferty, capped four times at under-21 level for Northern Ireland, was with Celtic between 2006 and 2010 but never made a first team appearance.

Meanwhile, Sligo Rovers have re-signed goalkeeper Richard Brush from Shamrock Rovers.

The former Coventry player was with the Bit o’ Red between 2006 and 2010 previously, making 115 appearances.

The club also announced new contracts for goalkeeper Ciaran Kelly and midfielder John Dillon.
