Bohemians came from a goal down to beat Sligo Rovers 2-1 at The Showgrounds in the Airtricity Premier Division.

Second half goals from the impressive Stephen Traynor and Anto Flood inside seven minutes, saw Pat Fenlon’s side inflict a second league defeat on the Bit O’ Red.

It had started brightly for the hosts, with Eoin Doyle firing them ahead after just 13 minutes. He also saw a header come back off the woodwork, while John Dillon hit the post before half-time.

Doyle started up front on his own for Rovers as both Matthew Blinkhorn and Raffaele Cretaro were both carrying knocks.

And he showed his finishing skills after just 13 minutes, when Aaron Greene was tackled on the edge of the area and the ball bounced kindly for him to hit first time to the back of the net.

The former Shamrock Rovers man almost doubled his contribution just three minutes later, when he did well to reach Alan Keane’s cross, and headed the ball off the foot of the post.

Rovers rattled the woodwork once again on 21 minutes, when John Russell touched the ball into the path of John Dillon inside the area, and the winger’s strike bounced off the post, with Doyle unable to reach the rebound.

Doyle went close again on the half-hour, when Dillon and Keane combined on the right, but his effort floated over the top.

Bohemians actually had the game’s opening chance as Flood raced onto Killian Brennan’s chip over the top, but he lifted his shoot too high and over the bar.

Rovers gifted the Gypsies a chance five minutes into the second half, when Jason McGuinness and Aaron Greene got their wires crossed at the edge of the area, but Flood couldn’t take advantage of the opening.

But Rovers were eventually punished on 55 minutes, when they failed to properly defend attacks from both Brennan and Ollie Cahill, and the ball was eventually scrambled over the line by Traynor.

And seven minutes later the home side were punished again after giving away a free-kick at the edge of the area.

Clarke was unable to fully deal with Brennan’s stinging effort, and Flood followed in to slide the rebound to the net.

Rovers responded by bringing on Cretaro, Blinkhorn and Daryl Horgan, and the former won a free at the edge of the box on 80 minutes, but Richie Ryan’s effort came back off the wall.

Chris O’Connor also had to deflect a Blinkhorn effort around the post as Rovers upped the tempo in the closing stages.

But unlike last week against the other Rovers, this time Bohs hung on to claim all three points.
