Karl Sheppard - Celebrates after levelling the match in Tallaght

Shamrock Rovers are through to the final of the Setanta Cup after a 2-1 win over Sligo Rovers at Tallaght Stadium.

Goals from Karl Sheppard and Billy Dennehy ensured another Hoops' win over Sligo, with Michael O'Neill's side already holding a 2-0 advantage from the first leg.

Eoin Doyle's early header had given the Bit o' Red some hope, but it was soon extinguished by a strong home side.

Paul Cook started with a 4-2-4 formation and the all-out attack system seemed to paid dividends as Alan Keane crossed for Doyle to head home unmarked after just four minutes.

But shortly after Dennehy's cross was missed by Derek Foran and Sheppard fired home.

Ronan Finn then pulled it back for Dennehy to sidefoot in to effectively kill the tie before the half hour mark

The second half was a poor affair with Shamrock Rovers cruising through to a final with Dundalk on 14 May.
