Derry City sealed promotion to the Airtricity Premier Division with a 1-0 win against Monaghan United in Gortakeegan on Saturday night.
Mark Farren’s goal, on rumoured to be his last game with the club, settled the match as City lifted the First Division title on a dramatic night at the top of the table.
Waterford United condemned Shelbourne to another season in the second tier of the League of Ireland with a 2-1 victory at Tolka Park thanks to goals from John Kearney and Willy John Kiely.
