Juventus not considering Keane move

Robbie Keane - set for January move?
Robbie Keane - set for January move?

Juventus have distanced themselves from a move for unsettled Tottenham Hotspur striker Robbie Keane.

Keane, who spent part of last season on loan at Celtic, has been out of favour at Spurs this season, with Jermain Defoe, Peter Crouch and Roman Pavyluchenko all ahead of him in the pecking order.

The Dubliner, who was briefly at Inter Milan 10 years ago, has been linked with moves to Juventus and Aston Villa in January.

Italian newspaper Gazetto Della Sport reported that Juve have their eye on Wolfsburg's Edin Dzeko and Alberto Gilardino but that Keane is third on their list of potential January targets and they could launch a loan bid.

However, a spokeman for Juventus has confirmed that a January loan move for the 30-year-old is not high on their list of priorities.

Aston Villa have also been linked with Keane, with reports in the UK suggesting that if manager Gerard Houllier can't tempt Michael Owen to leave Manchester United he will attempt to sign the Ireland captain.
