PSV Eindhoven sent 10-man Feyenoord crashing to their heaviest ever defeat on a record-breaking afternoon at Philips Stadion.
A hat-trick from Jonathan Reis was the cornerstone of the rout which also saw Jeremain Lens (2), Balazs Dzsudzsak (2), Ibrahim Afellay, Ola Toivonen and Orlando Engelaar find the target.
The bruising loss was the worst in Feyenoord's history, eclipsing the 8-2 reverse against Ajax in September 1983, and will only ramp up the pressure on coach Mario Been, who has been under scrutiny after a poor start to the season that has left the Rotterdammers in the relegation zone.
