Ger O'Brien hit his first goal of the season to earn Sporting Fingal a deserved point at Dalymount Park.
Paddy Madden maintained his goal rush with a seventh strike in four games as Bohemians utterly dominated the first 45 minutes.
But with a sout from CS Maritimo, Sporting’s Europa League opponents later this month, in the crowd, the visitors stormed back in the second half to get a deserved equaliser.
Sporting keeper Brendan Clarke was early into action when getting down to hold a Ruaidhri Higgins drive on seven minutes after good interplay from Mark Quigley and Madden.
Higgins soon teed up Quigley out on the left who unleashed a dipping shot that was just over the top.
Madden then got his first sniff of goal on 22 minutes. Gareth McGlynn flicked Mark Rossiter’s cross from the right and Madden was just off target with a snap header.
But the Sporting defence was creaking now and was finally breached within a further three minutes.
The hardworking Rossiter touched on skipper Owen Heary’s long ball and Madden was onto it in a flash to lob the advancing Clarke for a cool finish from the edge of the area.
Sporting didn’t threaten until the 52nd minute when skipper Shaun Williams was left alone to plant a firm header wide from Conan Byrne’s corner.
That sprung them into life and their clearest opening of the night followed on 64 minutes.
Bohs defender Ken Oman could only help on Alan Kirby’s cross from the left to set up Byrne inside the area. But Oman got back to clear the shot off the line.
The Gypsies came within inches of doubling their lead on the counterattack on 73 minutes.
Substitute Raff Cretaro pounced on a Colm James mistake to put Madden in on goal.
Madden’s shot beat the advancing Clarke only to come back off a post.
Sporting were level within a minute, though. O’Brien burst forward from central defence, worked a one-two with Shane McFaul before side footing past Murphy.
Madden might then have won it for Bohs two minutes from time, but first his effort from Brian Shelley’s cross was blocked before Clarke made a pointblank save.
