Their 1-1 draw at the home of the Austrian champions gave Pat Fenlon's side a great chance of moving another step closer to the lucrative groups stages.
Brian Murphy, with a penalty save, and goalscorer Joseph Ndo were the heroes last week at the Red Bull Stadium and both are available for tonight's game.
However, captain Owen Heary is absent once again with a hamstring problem. The 32-year-old missed the first leg with the same injury.
Graham Carey's future remains in doubt. The young winger has returned to Celtic because the Gypsies have been unable to extend his loan deal due to the FAI-imposed transfer embargo.
The good news for Fenlon is that Killian Brennan and Anto Murphy have recovered from knocks picked up in the 1-0 win over Derry City on Sunday.
Fenlon hopes his side capitalise on the away performance by getting the result they need to progress.
He said: 'I feel that this group of players have a lot more in them. They just need to believe in themselves a little bit more.
'They have to finish it off. There's no point in talking about getting a 1-1 draw in Austria if you end up going out in the home leg.'
However, anyone who saw the first leg knows that Salzburg are no mugs and they are confident of progression. Only Brian Murphy's heroics in goal and some resolute defending denied them a first leg advantage.
They opened the defence of their league title with a 2-1 victory over FK Austria Vienna thanks to goals from Alexander Zickler and Somen Tchoyi. Their website claimed that they travelled to Dublin 'with the taste of success in tow'.
Manager Huub Stevens said: 'If we show as much spirit in Dublin as we did against Austria Vienna, we will have a great chance of making the next round.'
The winners of this tie will play Dinamo Zagreb, who beat Pyunik Yerevan of Armenia 3-0 last night and on aggregate.
