Shamrock Rovers booked their place in the fourth round of the FAI Ford Cup after beating Drogheda United at United Park.

Dessie Baker opened the scoring for the Hoops in the 28th minute when he got on the end of a Tadhg Purcell cross to head home.

Then it was provider turned scorer as Purcell hit a second-half brace to secure the tie for the Hoops.

Purcell's first came in the 83rd minute when he cut inside the Drogheda defender to hammer home and his second came six minutes later with a neat finish to put the tie beyond Alan Mathews' side.
