Carlo Ancelotti this afternoon announced his contract at AC Milan had been terminated by mutual consent although he refused to confirm he was on his way to Chelsea.
Ancelotti stood down as coach in the wake of Milan's 2-0 win at Fiorentina - a result that confirmed they finished third in Serie A and qualified automatically for the group stages of next season's Champions League.
Speculation both in England and Italy has linked the 49-year-old with a move to Stamford Bridge but Ancelotti insisted nothing had yet been agreed.
He said: 'I have agreed to leave Milan. The decision was by mutual consent.
'But a move to London is not certain yet.'
