Gary McCabe was the hero and villain amid dramatic scenes at the Carlisle Grounds.

Bray twice came from behind to earn draw, but missed an injury time penalty which would have seen them snatch victory from a Galway side who were denied a third win of the season.

Jake Kelly’s 88th minute long range rocket was handled by the Tribesmen’s Garry Breen. And Gary McCabe converted the penalty for Wanderers to make it 2-2.

Then seconds into time added on, McCabe was upended by
Iarfhlaith Daveron. The Bray player picked himself to take the spot kick, but Barry Ryan made a fantastic save.

Having fielded the same starting line-ups for their score-less draws with Shamrock Rovers and Drogheda, injury and suspension forced the Wicklow club to change their starting 11.

With Paul Byrne banned, Gareth Coughlan injured and Daire Doyle benched, their were full debuts for Stephen Brennan and Darren Forsyth, along with a first start of the campaign for Jake Kelly.

After victories over St Pat’s and Dundalk, the Tribesmen were unchanged.

Neither side had conceded before kick-off. But United broke the dead-lock in the eighth minute.

Forsyth had been fouled in the second minute by Guthrie. The former UCD and Shels striker needed lengthy treatment, and was eventually substituted as the visitors took a corner.

Jay O’Shea’s deep delivery went to the back post, where Guthrie guided the ball back for Vinny Faherty to tap in right on the line.

Bray’s response was almost instant. From Dane Massey’s free, Forsyth’s replacement John Flood clipped the top of the bar with a header.

But Wanderers produced a brilliant 16th minute equaliser.

Irish Futsal international Massey broke along the left and released Kelly. He got to the end-line and picked out Republic of Ireland U23 cap Paddy Kavanagh, who planted a 10-yard downward header to the net.
However, that joy was short-lived, as the away team went back in front just four minutes later.

Cian McBrien ghosted in off the left wing and hit a low 20-yard right footed drive beyond Chris O’Connor.
