Paul Doolin is on the verge of replacing Alan Mathews as manager of Cork City according to RTÉ Sport's Tony O'Donoghue.
The current Drogheda United boss is currently in talks with City owner Tom Coughlan, but while no deal has been finalised, a decision is expected in the coming days.
Doolin has emerged as the clear favourite to replace Mathews at Turner's Cross in recent days after Cork's initial interest in Billy Morgan, Brian Kerr, Sammy McIlroy and others failed to find a successor.
Doolin's future as Drogheda manager remains in the balance with the club battling to ensure its Premier Division status for next season following a financially turbulent 2008.
