Atalanta have ruled out signing Italian midfielder Massimo Donati from Celtic in the January transfer window.
The 27-year-old has been linked with a move away from Parkhead after failing to earn a regular starting place with the Scottish champions.
Donati recently revealed he would welcome a return to Atalanta, where he began his career and where he played on loan before joining the Hoops from AC Milan in the summer of 2007.
'I can exclude Donati's arrival,' Atalanta coach Luigi Del Neri told Italian television channel Mediaset.
'In 2007 he decided to go to Celtic and now he must respect our decision.
'We will sign a new midfielder but not Donati.'
