Former Cork football manager Billy Morgan has apparently turned down the chance to manage League of Ireland side Cork City.
City owner Tom Coughlan has been searching for a new boss for The Rebels since the sacking of Alan Matthews.
All-Ireland winner Morgan agreed to meet Coughlan but he quickly made his intentions clear that he was currently not interested in a role in soccer.
Morgan told eleven-a-side.com: ‘I did have an approach from Mr Coughlan and I did meet him.
‘He asked me would I be interested in becoming manager at Cork City, but I told him that my only involvement these days was with my GAA club Nemo.
‘He spoke of his plans for Cork City and for the future, but I told him that I just would not be interested. I won’t be interested.’
The club have revealed that there have been 15 applications received for the post.
The candidates are currently being assessed, and the interview process will commence in the first week of January.
City have now stated the job will only be available to the those who hold relevant UEFA coaching qualifications.
