Derry City's highly-rated midfielder Niall McGinn is expected to complete his transfer to Celtic tomorrow, RTÉ Sport understands.

McGinn is scheduled to travel to Glasgow to undergo a medical before he signs a two-and-a-half year deal with the Scottish champions.

The transfer fee is likely to be in the region of £200,000.

Gordon Strachan's side had initially wanted the 21-year-old to undergo a trial period in Glasgow, but Celtic have pursued their interest despite Derry refusing that request.

His contract at Celtic Park is also likely to have an option of a further one-year extension.

McGinn was recently named eircom League Young Player of the Year by the Professional Footballers' Association of Ireland. He also made his first appearance for Northern Ireland in last month's 2-0defeat by Hungary just before a Man of the Match performance in their FAI Ford Cup final defeat to Bohemians.
