The Republic of Ireland Under-19s were beaten 2-0 by France in their final qualifying game at the UEFA Championships in Malta.

Blackburn Rovers player Aaron Doran was red-carded off in the 70th minute for a second yellow card and France punished the 10 man Ireland with two late goals in the 78th and 84th minute.

The result means the French top the group and go through to the next round as top seeds, while Sean McCaffrey's Ireland will go into the second tier of seeding in the next round.
