Following a meeting between the players and Drogheda United chairman Vincent Hoey this morning, the club can confirm that tomorrow night's game with St. Patrick's Athletic will go ahead as planned.

Players' spokesperson Shane Robinson said: ‘Following this morning's meeting, I can confirm that the players will not be going on strike. While it is a difficult position we all find ourselves in, the players intend to fulfil our obligations until the end of the season.’

Hoey is appealing to the Drogheda public to get out and support the team tomorrow night: ‘I would ask all Drogheda United fans, and all football fans in general to do their bit by supporting the club tomorrow night.’

The players had been contemplating strike action since last week when the squad failed to receive the 30% of their wages they were promised as part of the arrangement they had with the club to see them through examinership.

Instead, each player was given €200 each.
