Atletico Madrid's stadium ban in the Champions League has been reduced to a two-match behind-closed-doors sentence, with one match deferred for two years, UEFA announced tonight.
The Spanish side were initially given a three-match stadium ban, with one deferred, for the violent incidents between police and fans at the Champions League clash with Marseille on 1 October.
But an appeal from Atletico has been partially upheld by the UEFA's Control and Disciplinary Body.
It means their next home match in Europe's elite club competition - against PSV Eindhoven on 26 November - will be played without spectators.
The fine of €150,000 still stands.
The two-match ban on Atletico coach Javier Aguirre has also been upheld so he will be forced to sit in the stands for the clashes against Liverpool away on 4 November and PSV on 26 November.
The club have 10 days to appeal the decision of the Appeals Body to the Court of Arbitration for Sport
