Anorthosis became the first Cypriot side to qualify for the group stages of the Champions League, thanks to a 3-1 aggregate victory over Greek champions Olympiacos in the third qualifying round.

They also had to overcome Armenian champions FC Pyunik and Austrian champions Rapid Vienna in the first and second qualifying rounds respectively.

The lesser known of the two Old Lady's in this year's tournament, the Cypriots will be looking for another scalp or two before the end of the group stages. Keep an eye out for the games with near neighbours, Greek side Panathinaikos for some guaranteed fireworks.

Coach: Temuri Ketsbaia

If Anorthosis are not so well known in this part of the world, their Georgian coach Temuri Ketsbaia most certainly is.

The fiery midfielder had a spell in the English top tier with Newcastle United – at a time when Newcastle were threatening to make a serious impact both domestically and on the European scene.

Ketsbaia played in two FA Cup finals – losing both – with the Geordies but will be best remembered for losing the plot after scoring near the end of his career when he famously kicked out at the advertising hoardings and proceeded to throw his boot into the crowd. Ketsbaia finished his playing career with Anorthosis and took over first team duties in 2004.

Savio began his career at Flamengo back in Brazil before making a dream move to Real Madrid, where he made 105 appearances during which time, Madrid won three Champions Leagues and one La Liga title.
