New Espanyol signing Steve Finnan has passed his medical with the Barcelona-based club two weeks after completing his transfer from Liverpool.
Due to his involvement in the World Cup qualifying games with the Republic of Ireland squad, Finnan was unable to travel to the Catalan capital until Sunday night.
He is set to be unveiled to the press at 6pm local time on Monday, before joining his new team-mates for his first training session on Tuesday morning.
A statement on the Espanyol website, www.rcdespanyol.com, read: ‘The latest Espanyol signing, Steve Finnan, has this morning passed a medical before joining (coach Bartolome) Marquez's squad.
‘The player underwent tests at the Clinica Creu Blanca, despite having a complete medical before finalising his signing, which took place on August 31.’
