Everton have confirmed the signing of French striker Louis Saha from Manchester United for an undisclosed fee, but neither they nor West Ham were able to tempt Henrik Larsson into a Premier League move.
Saha has signed a two-year deal with an option for a third year after passing a medical over the weekend.
The Toffees have also revealed a move for Internazionale winger Victor Obinna has fallen through after an unsuccessful work permit application.
Meanwhile, Larsson has dismissed talk of a deadline-day transfer to the Premier League.
Everton and West Ham were linked with a move for the former Celtic, Barcelona and Manchester United striker but Larsson insists he has no plans to leave Helsingborg.
Larsson, 36, told Swedish newspaper Expressen: 'I will not go anywhere. It has never been my intention to leave.'
The player's agent Rob Jansen confirmed his client was happy in his native Sweden.
'There was interest from England but Henrik has decided to stay with Helsingborg and the club are now happy to keep him,' said Jansen.
'He's out of contract in January and available on a free transfer, so will pick up his career from there.'
