Wales are expected to receive confirmation on Friday that their international friendly against Georgia next week can go ahead.

Georgia still desperately want to play the match, as much as to make a political statement as well as to prove to FIFA they remain able to function as a football authority despite the conflict with Russia over the breakaway region of South Ossetia.

They had a problem obtaining visas to enter the UK, with the British embassy in Tbilisi shut indefinitely.

However, the Georgia-based members of the national side have travelled to Azerbaijan to get their visas for next Wednesday's match.

A statement from the Football Association of Wales this afternoon confirmed: 'The Foreign Office will advise the FAW first thing tomorrow morning that this has been completed and therefore, that the game will be able to go ahead.'
